What can I do?

i) Purchase as much local, in season, organic produce as you can afford and be amazed at the taste

ii) Cook vegetables til they are just cooked using a steamer to preserve as much nutrient as possible

iii) Use food as medicine to keep you healthy by eating a balanced organic diet full of vegetables, fruit and fish and nuts. Tomatoes for lycopene for men to protect against prostrate cancer, red apples for polyphenols and epicatechin to protect against cancer and cardio vascular disease, broccoli as anti cancer, olive oil and so forth

iv) Ask your doctor to prescribe a healthy diet and exercise by walking and cycling around our urban areas and wonderful countryside or parks and open spaces

v) Eat only unsaturated and non hydrogenated fats (ie hardened) and try not too eat too much processed food

vi) Shop at farmer’s markets or local organic box schemes and ask for local produce that has less food miles and get to know your local varieties of apples, potatoes and other produce
